Extensions Of Man

Two perfect examples of objects that are "extensions of man" are an ipod and a blackberry. Back in the day, in order to listen to music you had to go and physically see a musical performance. As time went on the radio was developed allowing us to hear music without actually physically going to a place to hear musicians play. Also, you had no choice of what you heard. You could only hear what was being played. Now with the development of the ipod and other mp3 players your music is portable and can be listened to in quiet places because they have ear plugs. You also put whatever music you want on the ipod so you can choose what you want to listen to at any time. Music in today's generation has become portable and personal. In earlier times in order communicate with other people you had to send a letter or tell a messenger to pass on your message. Eventually the telephone was invented so that you could immediately communicate with another person the moment you had something to tell that person. In today's day and age, we now use cell phones which are portable and allow us to communicate with people anytime and any place. You don't need to call anyone and hope they are home in order to talk to them. You can reach the person even if they are out. Also, a blackberry is a multi-funciton cell phone allowing us to check email and access the internet as other forms of communication. Technology over time has changed so much and become so much more advanced. One can only imagine what we will have in future generations to come. A cell phone and a blackberry will be considered old fashioned in future times.
